Waste-Free lunch tips

"It has been estimated that on average a school-age child using a disposable lunch generates 67 pounds of waste per school year. That equates to 18,760 pounds of lunch waste for just one average-size elementary school."

    I also heard recently that a child is more likely to actually eat their fruit if it's cut into pieces. Another suggestion: coat apple slices in a little cinnamon and brown sugar so that kids can't see the brown parts.

  4. Ooh! Good tip Heather! I will definately do that!
    I always ask Jonah what kind of fruit she likes. We've tried the fruit cups, fruit sauce, fruit bars, even these fruit "tubes".... and they always make their way back home in her lunch kit. I'm sure she'd love cinnamon and brown sugar!
